How to use a ratchet pruner

1. Open pruner/lopper all the way
2. Insert branch into jaw of pruner, as far as it will go
3. Squeeze the handles together, advancing the blade through the branch
4. When you feel increased handle resistance, STOP squeezing
5. Open the shear slightly until you hear a CLICK. Again STOP and do not open the blade any further
6. Squeeze again, repeating steps 3 and 4 to completely finish the cut. A properly sharpened tool should cut cleanly (it should not be necessary to pull or rip fibers)
